oox has just announced a new e-reader on their portfolio, the Palma 2 which represents the next and improved version of the smartphone-sized e-reader.
This new Boox Palma 2 was specially created to solve some of the problems that the previous model had. So, now it’s designed with a faster processor to solve the laggy interface issue and runs with a newer version of Android.
Available for pre-order starting today, the e-reader comes in two colors, ivory white and deep cyan for $279.99, the same price as the previous version. But even though the price has not changed, it is still more expensive than other superior digital books, such as the new Kindle models recently released.
However, the compact size of the e-reader is the main reason for its popularity because customers were considering the Boox digital books as an alternative to the Kindle and Kobo competitors. The Boox new Palma 2 has the same 6.13-inch 300ppi E Ink Carta 1200 screen as the previous version and comes with 128GB of storage along with 6GB RAM.
Even if the two models are not very different, the new version of the Palma e-book reader claims to have a faster octa-core GPU which aims to speed up the e-reader interface. Also, the digital book reader runs on Android 13 compared to Android 11 on the old version, which means that the Palma 2 will get some new features such as improved copying and pasting.

Another important upgrade is the fingerprint sensor which is integrated directly into the power button and makes it easier to keep your e-reader secure and access it with just one hand. For digitalizing documents, the Palma 2 has the same 16MP with flash which represents the perfect feature to scan and digitalize documents.
At the same time as the Palma 2 release, the Boox company also launched two new e-paper devices for note-taking. One is the Note Air4 C with a 10.3-inch screen which has the latest generation of the Kaleido 3 color E Ink Display. The new e-paper claims to provide an improved fresh rate based on the octa-core processor which makes it about 50% faster than the previous model.
The second device the Boox Note Max is not announced yet, and the Boox website claims to be coming soon with an official announcement about its specifications and features.
Stay tuned for the next announcement from Boox.
