new policy has been announced for Amazon employees. One of Amazon’s major executives talked about the mandatory 5-day-per-week at-the-office policy,
claiming that if you do not support the new policy you can go to another company.
Matt Garman, a unit CEO, said after he talked with employees at an all-hands meeting for AWS, that nine out of ten workers support the new policy. The new work environment will be effective starting this January and will require employees to change their program to an at-the-office one.
Even more so, those who do not want to come for the new in-office program can quit at any time. Garman said "If there are people who just don't work well in that environment and don't want to, that's okay, there are other companies around,"
"By the way, I don't mean that in a bad way," and that "we want to be in an environment where we're working together."
"When we want to really, really innovate on interesting products, I have not seen an ability for us to do that when we're not in person”. reported Garman.
However, the new policy triggered a lot of frowns from people who do not want to come to the office daily as it adds additional commuting. Even more so, some of the employees consider that the benefits of working from the office are not possible with independent data.

A three-day in-the-office policy has also been enforced by Amazon, yet Andy Jassy, the CEO said last month that the policy will be changed to 5 days in office in order to “invent, collaborate and be connected."
And, in the case where employees are not compliant with the new work environment, Amazon representatives said that they “voluntarily resigning" and were simply taken down from the company’s systems.
Amazon is one of the largest employers in the world, and it is taking big steps toward eliminating remote work for its employees. It is also worth mentioning that it is not the first big company to make this decision as Google, Microsoft, and Meta have already spent two to three days in the office.
“I'm actually quite excited about this change," said Garman, and that "I know not everyone is,". He also talked about the three-day policy “we didn't really accomplish anything, like we didn't get to work together and learn from each other," because as you might expect the employees did not always match the three days.
"You can't internalize them by reading them on the website, you really have to experience them day-to-day," Garman also said.
