law which demands that ByteDace must remove the TikTok short video social media app until January 19, or receive a ban from the U.S Supreme Court.
So, the two companies have filed this emergency motion to the U.S. Supreme Court of Appeals from the District of Columbia where they stated that without a further order, this sell-or-ban law will shut down one of the most popular social media platforms which has more than 170 million monthly users.
Most probably, if the U.S. Supreme Court doesn’t make another order, the TikTok social media platform could face tikTok suspension in about six weeks. This action will make the ByteDance company far less valuable to its investors, due to the fact that most of their businesses are relying on the TikTok ability to drive sales.
It should be mentioned that on Friday, a three-judge panel from the U.S. Appeal Court supported the law which requires ByteDance to sell the TikTok social media app in the United States by early next year or risk TikTok suspension in less than six weeks.
Various lawyers from the two companies stated that the order from the Supreme Court “will take the case and reverse is sufficiently high to warrant the temporary pause needed to create time for further deliberation."

Even more so, the two companies mentioned in their appeal that the recently elected U.S. President, Donald Trump guaranteed to prevent the TikTok suspension, disputing that this delay "will give the incoming administration time to determine its position -- which could moot both the impending harms and the need for Supreme Court review."
The Justice Department nswered that this appeals court should reject the ByteDance and TikTok request "to maximize the time available for the Supreme Court’s consideration".
It should be noted that the TikTok social media platform requested for the Supreme Court to decide the final answer for the appeal by December 16.
