create an AI education platform - Eureka Labs. Karpathy announced the exciting news, yesterday- July 16th on an X post.
Andrej Karpathy is a computer scientist, with vast experience developing artificial intelligence products. In 2015 he co-founded OpenAI, one of the most used artificial intelligence products.
In 2017, he became the head of the AI team at Tesla. He led the team that created the Tesla Autopilot. This feature changed the future of electric vehicles. Tesla Autopilot is a driving assistant that uses sensors and cameras to adapt to the environment and auto-drive the car.
In 2022, Karpathy rejoined the OpenAI team where he led the work allied with ChatGPT. ChatGPT is the most used chatbot in companies and education.
Andrej Karpathy is launching Eureka Labs. The product combines his passion for teaching with his expertise in creating powerful artificial intelligence products. AI education has become more and more common since the launch of ChatGPT. However, Eureka Labs wants to take learning through artificial intelligence to the next level.
Eureka Labs intends to introduce AI assistants to guide people through the courses. The curriculum would be created by human teachers and optimized by AI. This collaboration between humans and AI will reach the ideal learning experience for something completely new. Human teachers cannot be fluent in all languages and pay attention to billions of students simultaneously.
Eureka Labs aims to make learning whatever you want accessible to everybody. Andrej Karpathy is optimistic in the post announcing the new AI education platform “If we are successful, it will be easy for anyone to learn anything, expanding education in both reach (...) and extent (...).”
The post on X revealed which would be the first course of Eureka Labs- LLM101n. The founder of Eureka states the AI course would teach students to create their own AI assistant. However, the link on eurekalabs.ai hints at another kind of course- a Storyteller AI Large Language Model.
Eureka Labs is still in the development phase. The site does not provide additional information besides the text of the X post. Even Karpathy confirmed that work is still in progress. He still wanted to share the news “instead of keeping a secret that isn’t."
The new AI education platform could change the e-learning experience.
