logram boxes? A dream come true for many or an SF movie scene. Well, with this new technology, your favorite movie scene might have just become reality.
A US-based startup is building the world’s first holographic communication platform that has the capacity to create 3D life-size holograms wherever you want. The company has created a box that weighs approximately 400 pounds and it is bigger than the size of an average NBA player.
The box can reproduce and show a pre-recorded video of a person and create the illusion of a real-life person being present. The hologram box has the capacity to use a pre-recorded video as well as a live feed and any 4k camera, even the camera from an iPhone.
Yet, the images that you will see are not technically holograms, due to contrast, light, shadow, and reflections they look like they are real. The company’s CEO, David Nussbaum stated that "We just beamed William Shatner from Los Angeles to Orlando, Florida, to be at a convention that he couldn’t physically be at,”. This just being one example of how we can leverage the power of this new technology.
The company also states that they are” Revolutionizing communication by creating immersive and interactive experiences with advanced features for unparalleled engagement and impact. Our team of experts uses the latest technologies to create professional, high-quality holograms tailored to specific needs.”. And that they have real-time solutions for already programmed recordings that can be streamed easily when there is a Wifi and Bluetooth connection.
Proto Inc. has available 2 full-size models that are available for use – the Proto Epic which has just been released and the Proto Luna, the more economical version which starts at $29,000 and can range to $65,000. Even more so, the company also produces smaller versions that are 30 inches tall and weigh a little under 30 pounds, the Proto M which sells for $5,900.
At the moment you can only use one Proto to set up a call, however, Proto-to-proto communication is not available at the moment. The possibility for two Proto users is to chat, however they will still need a second camera.

It’s also worth mentioning that Nussbaum describes Proto as a “business-to-business company,” with well-known clients such as Verizon, Amazon, Siemens, Accenture, and NFL. He also adds “You’re seeing me like I’m actually there. That means our conversation is more authentic. It’s more engaging,”.
Holograms create a more immersive experience and can be used even in hotels to offer a better concierge solution. Hologram companies have a bright future as technology advances and the need for the best experience is on the rise. So, stay tuned for the latest tech news.
