for those users that receive hundreds of old direct messages, for example, influencers and content creators from social media.
So, Instagram has released a new tool that allows users to sort and also filter their Instagram PM and message requests. Now, all content creators and influencers are able to filter their message requests based on follower count, verified accounts or even to select if those messages are coming from brands or other content creators. It seems that the new Instagram update is specially designed to help creators determine what direct messages have a higher priority and deserve a response from them.
But this is not the only update, as Instagram has added a new “Story Replies” folder to sort all the story replies in just a single place and make them more accessible compared with the previous messages list.
Instagram social media platform states that they decided to improve the direct messages feature from their social media app after numerous complaints from content creators and influencers stating how hard it is to filter and manage the direct messages from the Instagram DMs folder.
“Now when you go to the requests inbox, sometimes it can be really overwhelming,”, Adam Mosseri stated in an Instagram post.
“So what we’ve done is added ways to filter down those requests to just see the ones that you’re looking for. There’s a lot more to do to improve the inbox for creators and requests,”, he also added in his post.
So, the “Sort&Filter” option will be visible as an overlay on top of the Instagram DM inbox, and users can choose how to sort their PM messages, by the number of followers, or other criteria in order to highlight and prioritize those. Users are free to check and uncheck different filters to separate the Instagram direct messages.
According to the Instagram social media app, they plan to expand the DM features to improve the overall user experience of all Instagram users.
So, we advise you to stay tuned for more Instagram DM updates!
