ntel is announcing a new series of processors called Core Ultra 200s that will be available starting on 24th October. These new tech processors are mainly
focused on providing a better performance per watt while running cooler and more efficiently than the last model of 14th-gen chips. On their codename Arrow Lake S, these new tech models represent Intel’s first desktop CPUs that have a built-in NPU along with a new neural processing unit to support the acceleration of AI tasks.
According to John Newman who is the general manager and VP of product marketing client computing, “Arrow Lake will deliver Intel’s best performance for enthusiasts in desktop and mobile,”.
“It will deliver that performance at significantly lower power levels than previous generations of Intel enthusiast products, and Arrow Lake is also delivering the first Intel AI PC for enthusiasts in both the desktop and mobile performance space.”, he also said.
The Arrow Lake architecture was designed specially to reduce the energy usage of their chips compared with the previous models of CPU generations that were consuming a lot of power. The new Core Ultra 200S series of chips guarantees to reduce almost 50% of the overall power consumption on basic tasks.
Also, the chip maker company is focused on using the latest 2D packing technology to create the Core Ultra 200S series chips and reduce its package size by almost 33% compared to the 24th Gen chips.
The Ultra 9 285k will have 24 cores and 24 threads along with a boost clock of 5.7GHz, meaning that it has a slower boost clock and fewer threads compared with the 14900K due to Intel's plans to remove the hyperthreading for more power efficiency. For PC gaming efficiency, the new Ultra 9 285K seems to compete with AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 7950X3D processors which are offering impressive PC gaming performances.

“I think we’ll be about five percent back versus X3D parts, which we feel really good about considering we have just the cache that’s built into the CPU and the great IPC of the product,”, says Robert Hallock.
Regarding the AI tasks, the chip maker company ensures that these new tech Intel flagships will provide amazing performances with the added NPU. The downside here is that the Ultra 9 285K is only capable of 13 TOPS and this series of processors will not have the power for Microsoft’s Copilot Plus because it requires a minimum of 40 TOPS to work properly.
The chip maker company is also planning to improve the memory support on these new tech Intel flagships and on Z980 motherboards that will support up to DDR5-6400 to 48GB per DIMM and a 192 GB maximum capacity.
The new Core Ultra 200S chips will be available starting with 24th October and the pricing is divided depending on the model. For example, the Core Ultra 9 285K will have a price of $589 and the Core Ultra 7 265K will cost $394. The last model of this series, the Core Ultra 5 245K will start at the price of $309.
The chipmaker will also launch the KF without the built-in GPU options for the Ultra 7 265KF and the Ultra 5 245KF which will cost $379 respectively $294 providing more affordable options for gaming gear setups.
