he Nintendo company has finally disclosed in a video posted on the official YouTube channel, the first images of the highly expected Nintendo Switch 2.
Even though this new portable gaming console represents a significant upgrade from the previous Nintendo Switch model, the company chose to follow the previous name and call it simply Nintendo Switch 2.
Directly from the YouTube video, we can see that the biggest difference between the two Nintendo Switch models is that the soon-to-be-launched model is going to be a bigger portable gaming console featuring a larger display. Also, due to the fact that is going to be a larger console, the Joy-Cons will also receive a significant size update with a rounder design, with the ability to be magnetically attached to the sides of the actual Nintendo tablet.
It should be mentioned that the new Nintendo Switch 2 is going to be a less colorful portable gaming console since the company is choosing to launch a black console with different color accents below the controller stick and on top of the Joy-Cons.
But the good news is that this new Nintendo Switch 2 will have the option to be docked to a TV in order to play all your favorite games on a bigger and brighter screen. So, the Joy-Cons will also be detachable with the option to be played as two separate controllers or just a single one combined in a separate controller grip.
All Nintendo fans have concerns about the ability to play the original Switch games on the new console. But this concern must be ignored since the new Nintendo Switch 2 will have support for the original Switch games along with the digital ones.

In the recently released YouTube video, the new portable gaming console presents a Mario game on screen, so all Mario fans are most likely to receive a new version of the game along with the Nintendo Switch 2 release.
It should be mentioned that the actual Nintendo Switch release date remains for now unknown, but we know for sure that the Nintendo company is planning to release it in 2025. The company also stated on its website that further details about the release and internal components of the gaming console are scheduled to be revealed during the Nintendo Direct event which will air on April 2.
