The Own purchase represents the most expensive acquisition of Salesforce since the Slack purchase in 2021 for about $1.9 billion.
According to Salesforce, the company stated in a recent presentation that some job roles will not have a future after the reorganization of the Own company. It seems in the next SalesForce layoffs, employees are expected to leave the company by the end of January next year.
It’s true that Salesforce plans for some job roles to become “transitional”, requiring a short-term period of between 3 and 12 months in order to have support for the integration process.
Salesforce company represents a top maker in customer relations software and recently announced the Own acquisition back in September. Also, the Own company stated on their LinkedIn account that the purchase between these two companies has successfully closed. But the Salesforce spokesperson declined to comment this Tuesday when asked about this new deal with Own.
These rapidly planned Own layoffs are highlighting the Salesforce company's intention to adopt a more cautious strategy after many years of continuous expansions.
More critics from activist investors starting in late 2002, had motivated the Salesforce company to reconsider their approaches. So, the company managed to decompose its acquisition committee and also reduced the workforce by 10% last year. With their headquarters in San Franciso, the Salesforce company wanted to have a more careful approach to future acquisitions.
The Own company has now more attention on securing data and information in software applications, but currently, it represents the biggest purchase of the Salesforce company since Slack. According to a person familiar with the matter, the Own purchase of $1.9 billion includes about 1,000 workers.
Various analysts believe that this Own purchase for Salesforce will be able to strengthen the company's Data Cloud, and will allow customers to have a better organization and analyze data across different applications.
