were just some laugh emojis, or of course…seen. However, there seems to be a new social media app that wants to solve this problem. Seen is the name of the app that carries the power to solve all social media drama and offer friends the possibility to record themselves while opening the messages we send them.
The app was founded by Faheem Kajee and Karen Gillan (an actress well known for playing in “Guardians of the Galaxy”), making the video messaging app the first available app for iOS devices to download. With this app, you and your friends can send live recorder reactions in private or in iMessage group chats for up to 11 people.
So, when you receive a meme, you must record yourself while opening it and send it to the chat. The one who received the video responded with a video of them reacting to the friend's reaction. Those videos can be seen by the receiver and sender, but friends who have access to your content can see your reactions as well.
The purpose of this app is the interaction between friends and a more engaging community. Seen also comes with a TikTok integration that makes the app even more intriguing, giving you and your friends the possibility to record live reactions to funny TikTok videos.
Even more so, you can find a scrollable feed on the app where you can see popular TikTok videos and upload videos from your phone. The app is also looking forward to integrating YouTube shorts and Instagram to their capabilities.
Kajee, the co-founder of the app, reported for TecCrunch that “Our broad goal is creating a platform that helps people connect with one another that feels very real,” (...) “ [Sharing video reactions] is better than just getting a thumbs-up back. It prompts a broader conversation, and there’s a sense of results from seeing somebody’s reaction.”
He also added about the co-founder that “[Gillan] has been involved in both the actual conceptualization and the nitty-gritty process, which has been amazing and very unexpected for a big Hollywood actress…Karen is really helpful for the distribution stuff,”.
The app received $1 million in funding from Twitter Co-founder Ev Williams, Twitch Co-founder Kevin Lin, and other important names.
