for social media app alternatives in order to continue their activities as content creators. The current trend in the App Store has become the RedNote app, also known as Xiaohongshu which is also a Chinese social media app.
Many TikTok users have already opened app accounts and started posting videos for RedNote users. However, it seems that the transition was not easy since many new RedNote users have faced several problems such as account suspension or ban based on many security issues.
It’s true that at first glance, the RedNote social media app, also called Xiaohongshu is considered to be a very good app alternative to the giant TikTok. All of RedNote’s functionalities and the focus on short video content were the main reasons why hundreds of users chose to download RedNote. But, the relatively new social media app has a lot more functionalities compared with TikTok such as offering local recommendations or even close connections, comparable with Google.
It should be mentioned that a lot of new users have been penalized or even kicked out completely from the app after a few posts on RedNote. It seems that some users have received penalties due to the fact that all videos displayed a TikTok watermark which is against the app's terms and conditions.
Other users posted screenshots of the TikTok notice about the account suspension and later received an account ban since those posts were violating RedNote’s guidelines. The last problem was about creating the initial account, which many U.S. users were unable to complete. It seems that users with a U.S. phone number didn’t receive the verification code, and after trying multiple times, the social media app suspended their account based on suspicious bot-like activity.
Even more so, the app Community Guidelines appear for the first time in Mandarin, which makes it extremely difficult for non-Mandarin speakers to find the language switch in the app. So now, all users who have faced issues are trying to fight the suspensions and bans, but we don't know for sure if these problems will be solved.
It’s important to know that even after all these issues, the majority of new users are satisfied with this RedNote app which seems to bring other new capabilities in order to transform how social media short-video content is consumed by users.
