But here’s the twist about this new U.S. government order, while approving the TikTok ban delay, Donald Trump stated that would be a good idea for the U.S. government to own half of the TikTok business in the U.S. territory.
This request was suggested by the U.S. President in order to keep the app available for users after the 75-day delay. If TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, does not approve this deal with the U.S. government, there is a high chance that Trump will impose additional tariffs on the Chinese government.
Now, the U.S. government order has raised various concerns and political schemes, because all the U.S. TikTok users are afraid that their favorite social media platform could be restricted again.
This news comes after the Sunday event when the social media platform was banned in the U.S. territory for a few hours due to a law that required the parent company, ByteDance, to sell TikTok based on national security concerns. And because ByteDance didn’t agree with this U.S. government law, the social media platform was restricted for all 170 million U.S. citizens that used TikTok.
The app regained its services shortly after the ban of TikTok, due to Trump’s efforts to “Save TikTok”. It should be mentioned that while both the app and the website have full functionalities, the social media app still cannot be downloaded in the Google app and Apple stores.

The law does not grant Donald Trump the full authority to extend the TikTok deadline unless the parent company agrees with the deal to sell TikTok, and we don’t for sure if such agreements will exist.
Even more so, these controversies began in a hard situation between the U.S. and Chinese governments, due to the fact that Donald Trump plans to impose additional tariffs on China. He also stated that he hopes to build a stronger political relationship with Xi Jinping, the current Chinese leader.
We don’t know for sure what the next steps of the U.S. government are, but we must wait and see how these agreements will conclude.
