he Uber company continues to bring more and more electric vehicles into its ride-sharing platform and soon will roll out an AI assistant powered by OpenAI
technology and artificial intelligence to support drivers in the U.S. who have issues transitioning to an EV.
Lately, Uber has been interested in shifting all of their rides to Uber EVs and until now the company has guaranteed that about $800 million will be assigned to support all of their driver partners.
This AI personal assistant is based on the OpenAI GPT-4o technology and it was first revealed in the Uber Go-Get Zero event that happened in London this Tuesday. It seems that the chatbot will be launched at the beginning of 2025 in the United States and later will extend to other locations.
Firstly the personal assistant powered by artificial intelligence will be able with artificial intelligence to only answer questions about electric vehicles such as where the driver should be charging it and also about which vehicle to buy. This innovation is set to be updated with more features but for now, these two will be the main ones.
The AI assistant will be available directly on the home screen of the Uber driver app and the ride-sharing company is ensuring that the chatbot powered by artificial intelligence will be always updated with the latest information about electric vehicles and so much more.
According to a spokesperson from Uber, all drivers will be able in the future to speak directly to the chatbot and it is possible to have the feature to respond to driver requests.
Right now, almost 180,000 Uber drivers are switching to Uber EVs every month in regions such as North America and Europe. It remains yet unknown how many languages the AI personal assistant will support and we must wait for these details until a closer announcement. Currently, the OpenAI GPT-4o can support over 50 languages.

"Uber drivers are adopting EVs five times faster than the average motorist in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. In London, nearly 30% of all miles driven on Uber are now electric," the CEO of Uber Dara Khosrowshahi stated for Reuters.
Also, Uber is planning to launch a mentorship program that will connect those drivers who have already experienced EV drivers with those who are looking forward to changing to an EV.
These announcements were not the only ones at the Go-Get event as Uber announced that this year's focus was on climate and sustainability and the ride-sharing company will give awards to the top merchants from their food delivery platform with $50,000 to fund their sustainability initiatives while reaching for more customers.
