a feature for Apple AirTag that allows its users to share temporarily the location of their lost luggage. But now, this feature is integrated directly into the customer services of two important airlines, United Airlines and Air Canada. These two airlines are the first ones that choose to implement the “Find My Share Item Location” feature.
This new AirTag feature offers the option for its users to share the location of their lost object directly with the customer services of the airline in order to make this process much faster and easier for both parties.
It’s important to know that this feature is available with iOS 18.2 for iPhones, and iPadOS, and also with macOS 15.2 on Macbooks. So, in order to share the item location in the Find My app, the users must generate a link and share it with the employees of the customer service to try to find quicker the missing luggage.
However, this Apple AirTag update is managing to make the most out of the primary use of AirTag which is represented by tracking luggage. Many travelers have chosen to monitor their items and bags during trips with these small devices, and in most cases, it ended up being very helpful.
It should be mentioned that according to Apple all generated links are safe and private, and more importantly the shared location will end automatically when the user finds the lost item. Also, the location sharing can be turned off by the owner at any time, even if the shared link will expire after seven days. The process is fully end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that no one, including the manufacturers, can access the device location or any other personal details.
Even more so, United Airlines and Air Canada are the first that integrate this Apple AirTag lost luggage feature in their customer service, but according to Apple, other 20 airlines are planning to partner with the company in order to integrate the Apple AirTag Lost luggage feature including British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Air New Zealand, KLM Royal Dutch, Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and much more.
Stay tuned for more updates!
