tarting next month, Microsoft plans to make a new update to its Xbox mobile app on Android that will allow its US users to make purchases along with playing
Xbox games directly on their smartphones. Users will also be able to link their Xbox account to the app for seamless integration across devices.
Recently the US court ruling announced its decision to force Google to stop requiring a Google Play billing for apps in the Play Store. Based on their decision, Microsoft plans to take advantage of this and include its Xbox games in the Android App Store.
According to an X post, Xbox president Sarah Bond states “The court’s ruling to open up Google’s mobile store in the US will allow more choice and flexibility,”.
"Our mission is to allow more players to play on more devices so we are thrilled to share that starting in November, players will be able to play and purchase Xbox games directly from the Xbox App on Android.” she also stated in the post.
The Xbox store is supporting purchases directly in the Android app store on smartphones and will also make the option for Microsoft to sell its Xbox games without any fee on Android devices along with an integrated Xbox Cloud Gaming feature to allow users to stream games immediately on their headsets after the purchasing process. Until now, Xbox Cloud Gaming has only been available with the Game Pass library, and it’s unclear if this will continue to be true in November.
For now, it is still unknown the reason why Microsoft can’t offer yet purchases for Xbox games directly on the Android app store, but users can buy games from Stream or the PlayStation store for their smartphones.

This store will likely have the focal point on first-party mobile games that come from Microsoft’s studios. But it is more probable that after launching the Xbox mobile store will only include deals and in-game items accessible through Xbox account.
Back in August, Microsoft announced that various testing had already started for the web-based mobile store.
“Work is progressing well and we will have more to share in the future.”, Microsoft said.
Currently, Epic Games is providing a store for Android users where they can download games directly from the company’s website which is privately held, and some games that are included in the store are offering in-app purchases.
