which is focused on providing content about knowledge and information. The auto-dubbing feature is specially created to allow various creators to generate a translated audio track for their own YouTube videos.
It should be mentioned that the streaming platform initially introduced this auto-dubbing feature powered by artificial intelligence at the Vidcon event last year, and was back then only available in testing for a limited creators groups. The YouTube AI auto-dubbing feature is focused on making the content more easily accessible to people around the world.
So, YouTube created this feature in order to be available for various channels that are focused on offering informational video content, like tutorials about how to make different things. According to YouTube, this feature will be available for other types of YouTube videos and content very soon.
More specifically, if the video content is made originally in English, this YouTube auto-dubbing feature will translate it into French, German, Hindi, Italian, Spanish, Indonesian, Japanese, and Portuguese. But if the original video is made in one of the languages mentioned previously, this feature will be able to generate just an English dub.
It should be mentioned that in order to have a dub in your channel, just upload the video content, and YouTube AI will detect automatically the original language and will provide dubs for it. Creators can preview these dubs, and have the option to either unpublish or delete dubs.
YouTube AI auto-dubbing features use Google’s Gemini technology in order to copy the natural human voice. However, the streaming platform states that this feature may not always function flawlessly due to the fact that the technology behind it is still in the early stages of development.
“We’re working hard to make it as accurate as possible, but there might be times when the translation isn’t quite right, or the dubbed voice doesn’t accurately represent the original speaker. We really appreciate your patience and feedback as we continue to improve,”, Youtube stated in their blog post.
Even more so, the streaming platform announced that they are currently working to launch as soon as possible an update called “Expressive Speech”, designed specially to improve the auto-dubbing feature to reproduce various aspects such as the creator’s tone and emotions.
Stay tuned for more updates!
