and AirPods Max models. So, now according to The Verge, all Airpods users can update their noise-cancelling earbuds to the latest firmware version.
It’s true that until now Apple’s support page will continue to include valuable information about the conditions that devices need to fulfill but now will also include a step-by-step guide that users can follow to speed up the entire process.
The basic steps were already popular among Apple users but now Apple included additional suggestions for its customers to ensure that all the steps are correctly followed. These additional details aim to help those users who have struggled in the past with the firmware update on their best wireless earbuds.
So, Apple has revealed a step-by-step guide for AirPods and Apple AirPods Pro models. Here’s how you should update your noise-canceling earbuds:
- First, you need to make sure that the AirPods are in the range of your Apple device that has a Wi-Fi connection;
- After that, put your AirPods earbuds in the dedicated charging case and close the case’s lid;
- Connect the charging case to a USB charger;
- Try to keep the case’s lid closed, and wait for a minimum of 30 minutes before disconnecting the charger to make sure that the firmware is fully updated.
- After that, open the case and reconnect your noise-canceling earbuds, AirPods, or Apple AirPods Pro to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Finally, make sure to check the firmware version to be sure that the process has been completed.
On the other hand for customers that have Apple AirPods Max as noise-cancelling earbuds, the process is similar but with some differences. Here’s how you should update your firmware version on AirPods Max:
- Bring your AirPods Max in the Bluetooth range of your Apple device that must be connected to Wi-Fi;
- Connect the charging cable to the right earphone;
- After that wait for at least 30 minutes to make sure that the firmware update is finished;
- Finally, reconnect your AirPods Max to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Make sure that you check the firmware version to see if the process has been successfully done.
To check the latest version of your firmware, you need to open the Bluetooth setting on your Apple device, iPhone, iPad, or Mac and click the Info button that is placed right next to the AirPods’s name. After that, under the About section, you will find the latest firmware version which must be the same as the latest version in Apple support.
If you're still experiencing issues with the firmware update, try resetting your AirPods and then attempt the update again.
