he Norwegian company Glint Solar is here to help big solar energy companies develop their solar installations faster than ever.
Glint Soalr is a software-as-a-service company that has built a platform that has the purpose of helping big energy companies such as E.ON, Statkraft, or Recurrent Energy to develop solar energy installation faster as they provide pre-designed dollar installations in order to accelerate the whole process.
The startup collects data from different sources and helps speed up the process when it comes to project assessments. Even more so, the startup’s platform comes with an adaptable layout that helps big solar companies navigate and have a great experience. They also allow cloud-based collaboration features that give them access to important data.
The startup is now announcing a $8 million Series A funding, having a 10x growth, keeping expanding into more markets from Europe. As of this time, Glint Solar has customers in France, Germany, the Nordics, and the U.K., the founding round getting them expanded to Italy, and Spain, as Harald Olderheim, the CEO and co-founder says.
Theri's plan of expansion included the launch of a floating solar installation narrowed down to ground-based installations, as it supports a bigger market. Harald reported for TechCrunch “If you look at the market, about 60% of the market is utility, large scale. And then about 20% is big rooftops, and 20% is residential. So we are going for the biggest market,” he added. “If you want to make a big impact in the world … we can do it through the utility scale because that’s much faster if you’re going to build increase the [solar] energy in the world.”

Olderheim also said, “If you think the impact we are making by one solar plant, a big one — like 10 megawatts, maybe with 7,000 or 15,000 solar panels — it’s a very efficient way of growing the energy production fast.”.
He also talked about the cost of dollar panel installations and said “It takes time to get all the agreements — with the land owner, with the grid, and with the municipality — to [deliver a solar project] and all these processes take time; so that’s one of the reasons we are doing Glint Solar,”.
The startup is focused on maximizing accessibility as a way to help remove friction from solar project approvals.
“We are making it very user-friendly so everyone in a team can use one software together and work on this problem to make [project delivery] much faster. And you can share everything — with the land owner, with the grid, with the municipality — so they can easily take decisions much faster with the lower risk” he said for TechCrunch.
