oogle is introducing an artificial intelligence feature for the Google Messages app that is specially created to make the app more secure against message
scams. Google stated that this new feature has already started rolling out to users along with live location sharing that is available in the Find My app, especially for all Pixel phone users. The company also announced some Pixel Studio capabilities such as text-to-image options and multicamera streaming support.
But the most important update represents the Google Chat Scam Detection, which is based on monitoring all the SMS, MMS, and RCS messages in real-time in order to identify different suspicious texts. So, after artificial intelligence technology detects various skeptical texts, users will receive a warning message that gives them the option to block the sender.
“To better protect users, we invested in new, intelligent AI models capable of detecting suspicious patterns and delivering real-time warnings over the course of a conversation, all while prioritizing user privacy.”, the senior product manager from Google Messages, Alberto Paster Nieto stated.
Initially, the Google Messenger Scam Detection will roll out just in English in countries such as the US, the UK, and Canada, and the company stated that more support for languages and other countries will be introduced soon.
It’s important to know that the new Scam Detection feature rolls out as a setting default, but for now is capable of monitoring suspicious messages from people that are not in the user’s contact list.

“Traditional spam protections are focused on protecting users before the conversation starts, and are less effective against these latest tactics from scammers that turn dangerous mid-conversation and use social engineering techniques,”, Alberto Paster Nieto also stated.
The live location sharing is now available to use with all the trusted contacts directly in the Find My App. According to the giant, the user’s locations are stored securely with the direct option to choose which contacts can see the locations. The Find My App will send regular notifications to remind users who can see their live location.
Even more so, some additional features will be available only for Pixel users. For example, all the Pixel 9 users will be able to connect the GoPro camera or even other Pixel devices on their own phone using Bluetooth or WiFi connectivity in order to make streaming from different angles. This feature is most likely worthy for content creators who post every day on YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram.
