his Thursday Google announced a series of new updates for Android and Pixel phone devices in the context of the Demeber feature drop. In this announcement
features such as new Gemini extensions or an updated Screenshot app for Pixel are also included.
Android new features
So, for Android, Google has introduced various Gemini extensions for Spotify, the Messaging app, the Calling app, and the Smart Home app. This means that in the Google update, all Android users will be able to search songs and playlists through the Gemini generative AI model. Users will be able to use all Gemini capabilities in order to send messages or even call people in the default Pixel phone app.

Also, the company is integrating Gemini 1.5 directly into the Lookout in order to help people with sight issues, enabling image-based Q&A via voice interaction and artificial intelligence-generated captions.
Even more so, Android users will have new expressive caption features specially designed to communicate emotions from behind the scenes, with various descriptions such as “[whispering] or [cheers and applause]”.

Pixel new features
The Google update for Pixel phones is based on a new phone mode in order to make it easier for users to operate with phones, with increased font size and touch sensitivity. Google’s new features come with a theft-protection update which requires users to unlock the phone with their biometric authentication when they want to change various sensitive settings in different locations, other than the main one.

Also, the Snap app will get a new and improved photo picker, so users will be able to see all their folders and cloud photos. The share sheet has been updated as well, with an enhanced mode to display album art for songs in the Now Playing section. More than that, call screening is now allowing users to read the conversation between the caller and the artificial intelligence agent, with the new option to answer or even decline the call.
It should be mentioned that all these features presented are available for Pixel 6 users or later user models.
More specifically, for the latest model of phones, Pixel 9, Google Gemini Nano will get a more contextual smart replies feature, that will offer the possibility for users to answer the call without picking up the phone.
The screenshots app, which was launched at the same time as Google Pixel 9 phones has now the functionality to sort the screenshots automatically. Users can save various items that were found with the help of the circle to search Google’s new feature directly into the search app. But maybe the most useful functionality is that users can add a screenshot of their tickets or passes directly into the Google Wallet.

For the impressive Pixel Pro Fold and Pixel 9 Fold, Google has introduced a dual-screen portrait mode, where users will be able to have a preview of the actual framing before the image is taken.
Pixel Watch and Pixel Tablet's new features
The Pixel Watch 2 has now a useful integration that lets Nest Cam or Nest Doorbell send doorbell notifications on your watch, and users will be able to see directly from their wrist who is at the door. Even more so, the Google update includes expanding the support of fitness reading for cardio load and target cardio load for various Pixel watches.
