CapCut app. The Meta new announcement was revealed a short time after the TikTok official ban in the U.S. territory which included the ban of other ByteDance’s apps like CapCut.
So, to benefit from the TikTok ban, the Instagram head, Adam Mosseri has announced on his Instagram profile that a new Meta app is planned to be launched in the upcoming months. However, he stated to all his followers that the Edits app is already available for preorders in the App Store with the possibility to be downloaded starting on March 13. It should be mentioned that right now, the Edits app has a version only for iOS users, but an Android app version is planned to be developed soon.
“Today we’re announcing a new app called ‘Edits,’ for those of you who are passionate about making videos on your phone. There’s a lot going on right now, but no matter what happens, it’s our job to provide the best possible tools for creators,”, he also stated about the Edits app in a post on Threads.
The new Meta app is specially created to have a variety of creative tools along with a high-quality camera for video recording, a special tab for inspiration, and another tab to help users keep track of their ideas. The interesting feature is that all Edits users will be able to share the draft version of their concepts and video edits with their friends and even collaborators. Since this new video editing app is developed by Meta, users will be able to see Instagram insights after posting a video edited with Edits.
But it’s important to mention that Adam Mosseri also stated that the new video editing app is an app dedicated more to content creators rather than simple video makers because Edits has a lot of features made purposely for more professional use.
It seems that Meta is trying to launch various apps that could compete with some of the most popular apps such as Threads, the X rival, or features such as Reels, which represents the TikTok alternative.
Right now, Adam Mosseri chose to keep further details about the features of the Edits app or other capabilities for later reveals.
Stay tuned for more Meta new announcements!
