ccording to Microsoft, the Office apps, also called Microsoft 365 apps will be no longer supported on Windows 10 software. The company
states that this decision will take effect starting on October 14, 2025, and will require all users to upgrade their software version to Windows 11.
It should be mentioned that even though Microsoft will stop the support for Microsoft Office Suite on Windows 10, the Microsoft 365 apps will still work after this due date. The giant states in a document that the apps will continue to operate normally but users are most likely to experience some performance issues after a while.
“Microsoft 365 Apps will no longer be supported after October 14, 2025, on Windows 10 devices. To use Microsoft 365 Applications on your device, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11.”, Microsoft stated in their blog post.
It seems that Microsoft plans to pressure users to upgrade their software to Windows 11 due to the fact that in the company’s vision, this year will be focused on refreshing the Windows 11 software. At the CES 2025 event, the giant stated how important for users to upgrade their software in order to have the most recent functionalities on their PCs and Laptops.
“We believe that one of the most important pieces of technology people will look to refresh in 2025 isn’t the refrigerator, the television or their mobile phone. It will be their Windows 10 PC, and they will move forward with Windows 11,”, as the executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer, Yusuf Mehdi stated.

It’s true that Windows 10 still has a lot of users, and the company trees to determine them to upgrade their software version in order to have impressive capabilities and functionalities. The main reason why some users choose to still use the Windows 10 version is the strict hardware requirements because Windows 11 requires higher quality computers in order to run properly and provide a smooth user experience.
Keep in mind that even though the giant will end the support for the Microsoft Office suite, the company is offering Extended Security Updates to users for the first time. So, in order to have them, consumers will need to pay $30 and will receive an additional year of updates.
Stay tuned to find out more details about this Microsoft decision!
