company will hire new workers who can sell advanced artificial intelligence products and software.
It should be mentioned that according to a source familiar with the matter, all the workers who will experience Salesforce layoffs, will eventually be able to apply again in the company but for other jobs internally.
We don’t know for sure which departments will be more affected by the Salesforce layoff plan.
In the last Salesforce annual report, the San Francisco-based company had about 72,682 employees on January 31, 2024. This Salesforce layoff comes after Marc Benioff, the company’s CEO, made an announcement in December 2024, that the software maker had already secured more than 1,000 paid agreements in order to have an AI-powered virtual representative platform called “Agentforce”.

Even more so, in the same period of last year, The Wall Street Journal reported that the San Franciso-based software maker planned to lay off more than 700 employees as part of their restructuring plan. A couple of months later, Bloomberg News also reported that in July 2024, Salesforce will cut about 300 jobs.
Probably the most recent Salesforce layoffs were in November 2024, when the software maker decided to make various tech layoffs for the workers at Own, the data startup that was back then purchased by Salesforce for about $2 million.
This software maker’s decision to cut jobs while increasing the artificial intelligence product lineup reflects a broader trend in the tech industry, where various companies and firms are trying to balance workforce reduction with different investments in developing technologies.
Also, the Salesforce company is expected to make its announcement about the recent quarterly earnings on February 26, 2025, when it will surely reveal the entire AI expansion plan.
