After his trip to the world’s biggest archipelago this weekend, Elon Musk has launched the Starlink Satellite internet connection. This initiative comes as a response to offering internet connection to the most remote areas worldwide.
The process of internet integration took place this Sunday at the community health center in Bali. Musk stated that he is “very excited” to help remote areas develop by bringing internet connections to them. Elon Musk also noted that internet connectivity could be “a life-saver to remote medical clinics”.
The archipelago is formed out of 17,000 islands extended over different time zones, and it has a population of nearly 270 million. Indonesia has tried to secure a deal with Elon Musk’s company for a long time, helping remote archipelago regions have internet connections.
The Health Minister, Budi Gundai, said that remote health can also benefit from the internet connection.
“The internet can open up better access to health services as communication between regions is said to be easier, so that reporting from health service facilities can be done in real time or up to date.”
Even more so, Elon Musk demonstrated the performance of the Starlink internet network with the help of multiple health organizations situated in remote regions of Indonesia, proving the importance of internet connection.
Musk stated: “This can make it really a lifesaver for remote medical clinics, and I think it could be a possibility for education as well,”
He also highlighted that “If you can access the internet and then you can learn anything and you can also sell your business services worldwide. So, I think it’s going to be incredibly beneficial,”.
However, the health sector is not the only one in which Musk agreed to bring an internet connection. The education system will also benefit from the internet services that Starlink will provide. A close ally of Joko Widodo, the Indonasioan’s president, stated that “Our remote regions need Starlink to expand high-speed internet services, especially to help with problems in the health, education and maritime sectors”.
Starlink is an excellent solution for remote areas where local internet providers can not reach and cover the secluded areas. So, by using the satellites Starlink has, all regions will benefit from this and have a steady internet connection.
