lon Musk is bringing back its operations in Brazil after all of the problems that happened in the Brazil X ban situation between social media platform X
(formerly Twitter) and the country's federal supreme court minister.
According to a post on social media platform X on the global government affairs account, the company states that is excited that the social media ban will be lifted and it will be able to return to all operations in Brazil.
“Giving tens of millions of Brazilians access to our indispensable platform was paramount throughout this entire process. We will continue to defend freedom of speech, within the boundaries of the law, everywhere we operate.”
On Tuesday, the Supremo Tribuno Federal known as the Brazil Supreme Court mentioned in a statement that due to the company’s efforts to comply with all conditions stipulated, they will lift the X ban to be used again by all Brazilians.
“The company complied with the conditions stipulated by the rapporteur, and the platform may once again be used by Brazilians.”
The social media platform X (formerly Twitter) was banned in Brazil in late August after Alexandre de Moraes made an order that was later approved by a panel of other justices. This suspension was implemented after Elon Musk who is the owner and also the technology chief of X, refused to comply with the court orders about banning some user accounts with content that violated the federal laws.
In Brazil, regulations are included as well as the limited spread of hate speech, incitement to violence along with any political misinformation or content that can harm democratic institutions.

Because initially, Elon Musk didn’t want to comply with those regulations, he decided to close all of the X headquarters in Brazil and he also refused to employ a legal representative as the law required. After months of disagreements with Alexandre de Moraes, the court decided to freeze the X business accounts in Brazil as well as the business from Space X satellite internet service provider in Brazil.
Now, Elon Musk seems to have accepted the situation and decided to pay $5,16 million in fines and named a Brazilian lawyer as the local representative of its social media network, as required by Brazilian laws.
According to SimilarWeb data, during this suspension period, various competitors such as Bluesky and Threads have gained many users in Brazil. But now, after the court authorizations, many users reported that they are regaining access to the social media network.
