ecently, the Bluesky social media platform has launched a new feature for its app, the Trending Topics feature.
Available on the mobile app and also on the desktop, this functionality allows users to see what are the trending topics of the platform.
For the desktop version of the Trending Topics feature, users can see all the popular subjects directly on the right sidebar. But for the mobile version, all users can tap on the search button to view all the trending topics.
Some social media experts believe that this recent launch in the Bluesky app represents an action in order to be able to compete with the X (formerly Twitter) which is now a market competitor for the Bluesky app. The X social media platform had the trending topics feature available long before the Bluesky one.

According to the social media company, this new feature is available only in English due to the fact that is still in beta testing. It’s important to mention that users have the option to disable this new characteristic by going to Settings and in the Content and Media section the button for “Enable trending topics” will be easy to access.
According to the Bluesky social media platform, the next version of the Trending Topics will be improved based on all user’s feedback. Even though this new Bluesky element is available only in English, it should be mentioned that the Trending Topics feature is available worldwide, compared with the Threads app which feature is currently available only in the U.S. territory and Japan.
Even more so, the Bluesky app has the option for users to mute certain words or phrases in order to hide the content related to those words. If users don’t want to see certain phrases in their trending list, they are able to mute them and enjoy their own customized trending record.
Stay tuned for more Bluesky news!
