social media platform was discarded alleging the X holder Elon Musk unreasonably ended the deal between them, declined to pay him and used his name only to captivate sponsorships. The lawsuit was intended in San Francisco, at the California Superior Court.
X annulled its collaboration with Lemon CNN’s anchor this March after he claimed that Elon Musk would be his primary guest in an interview.
Elon Musk released later a post on the X platform in which he wrote: “His approach was basically just CNN, but on social media, which doesn’t work. He also mentioned that Don Lemon was welcomed to build an audience on the X platform.
Don Lemmon is a well-known highest-rated personality who was laid off from CNN in April 2023 after a constant presence for 17 years on the classic cable television network, succeeding a short-holding as morning show co-host.
X, the original Twitter, has battled to maintain advertisers in a line of controversies since the time Elon Musk acquired the company in 2022. X signed Don Lemon CNN’s star, the ex-U.S. senator Tulsi Gabbard, and sports radio host Jim Rome, as a part of a struggle to flourish the video content on the platform and convey advertisers back to its social media channel.
The Californian lawsuit declared that X approved paying Don Lemon CNN no less than $1.5 million plus extra payments as stimulants and a part of the promotion revenue.
Carney Sheferian, Lemon’s lawyer declared: “This case is straightforward. X executives used Don to prop up their advertising sales pitch, then canceled their partnership and dragged Don’s name through the mud.” She continued saying: “You don’t have to be a genius to see the fraud, negligence, and reputational damage here. Don’s a hard-hitting journalist who’s committed to defending his good name. We look forward to our day in court.”
The lawsuit also claims that Lemon was “rushed” into signing the partnership papers, mostly because he was told that the offer would be removed if he didn’t attend the CES Conference in Las Vegas and openly declared the collaboration on the same day.
One day before Elon Musk’s interview with Don Lemon, scheduled on 8th March, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO wrote to the journalist’s agent that his “contract is cancelled”, the lawsuit continued.
