of its $499 AI Pins, one of its most popular products. Humane have customers who have already purchased the Pin, and their devices will stop working before the month ends at 12 p.m. PST on February 28, 2025, as reported in a blog post.
After that date, the Humane said that its AI Pins will no longer connect to Humane’s servers. It is also worth mentioning that the devices won’t be capable of calling, messaging, AI queries/responses, or even cloud access. Humans also advised AI Pin owners to transfer their loved and important photos and data to an external device as soon as possible.
Humane also plans to eliminate its customer support team for the AI Pin on February 28. The company also said that customers who have bought an AI pin in the last 90 days are eligible for a refund, as they reported in a FAQ, however, anyone who bought a device beforehand will not have the option.
The news also comes and puts an end to the short-lived life of the startup. Back in 2024, Humane receded headlines as they launched their AI Pin, which had the purpose of replacing your smartphone. The startup was founded by ex-Apple employees Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhari, who raised more than $230 million to bring this device to life.
Yet, to everyone’s surprise, Humane’s AI Pin disappointed many early reviews as well as customers, leading to a crisis for the company. Even more so, last summer at one point, Humane’s returns for the AI Pin, started to exceed expectations for sale, reported TechCrunch.
And, to make matters worse, Humane also told its users to stop using the device’s charging case due to battery fire concerns. Also adding that in October, the company that charged customers $699 for their AI Pin, dropped their prices to $200.
HP will also acquire the Humane’s engineers and product managers. The Humane team will also create a new group within HP described as an “AI innovation lab focused on building an intelligent ecosystem across HP’s products and services for the future of work.”
