he Chinese-based company is planning to begin the mass production of the most advanced Huawei AI chip technology starting in the first quarter of 2025.
This Huawei news came at a time when the company is facing some issues with the production flow since it struggles with making enough AI chips after the U.S. recent restrictions.
So, according to various rumors, Huawei already started to send samples of the AI chip Ascend 910C which represents a significant competitor for the Nvidia AI chips. It seems that Huawei has some orders for Huawei chips from various tech companies.
Currently, the telecommunication company is facing some issues during the China-U.S. conflict about the trade and security of the United States. So, for this conflict, the U.S. Washington government decided to enforce some restrains for Huawei along with other Chinese-based companies, claiming that their rapid AI chip technology development could have an impact on U.S. national security. But China denies all of these allegations.
It’s true that these restrictions managed to diminish the company’s chances to produce more Huawei AI chips. But the Huawei AI chips that are coming off the manufacturing line with full functionalities record a high number of AI chips enough for them to be available for commercialization.
The 910C Huawei AI chip is being produced by the leading Chinese contract chip maker, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp by using the N+2 process. However, after a shortage of advanced lithography equipment, the number of Huawei chips that are produced without flaws is currently limited to 20% of the overall production.

In order to be commercially viable, the number of Huawei chips produced without defects must be more than 70% of the overall production.
It should be noted that Huawei’s most advanced processor, named 910B, has a rate of without-defect production of about 50%, and according to some sources, is currently forcing Huawei to reduce their production targets and also delay filling orders for Huawei chips.
“Huawei knows there is no short-term solution, given the lack of EUVs, so it will give priority to strategic government and corporate orders,", the source stated.
