of battery storage. This would make it one of the most energy-efficient cars ever made. The EV producer said the vehicle would also establish a record of 146 miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent and an EPA estimated range of 420 miles.
Lucid Motors was founded in 2007, headquartered in New York, California. The company started its electric vehicle production in 2021, with its first model, Lucid Air. It is also working on launching its second model, the Lucid Gravity SUV, which is expected to be available in late 2024. It also develops and provides powertrain technology for other automakers, including Aston Martin.
The Lucid Air's most affordable version starts at $69,900, and considering it is a luxury EV car, it is fairly low-priced. Some changes were made to the new model year. The battery dimension was slightly reduced from 88kWh to 84kWh, and it also comes with a new energy-saving and cold weather-fighting heat pump technology. This feature was first introduced on the company’s “Sapphire” version, which was available for $249.000. It was later incorporated into the Touring and Grand Touring versions.
Starting with 2025, the company is going to include some new interesting features for all the models from Air Pure to Air Grand Tour. The EVs will be provided with an Advanced Driver Assistance System called “DreamDrive Premim”, which comes with 3D surrounding cameras, and a blind spot display.
The EV producer will also incorporate a new control unit system that will have triple processing power and twice the memory capacity storage of the previous models. This will considerably increase the in-car infotainment experience.
However, Lucid Motors is assuming a high risk by supposing that EV luxury customers will care as much about the latest green technology incorporated features as they do about the esthetic features, such as the leather seats and minimalist interior.
Also, their success with the Lucid Air model being the most efficient EV could be soon outshined by other important players from the auto market. Mercedes-Benz is also developing its own version of hyper-efficient eclectic vehicle prototypes, such as the Vision EQXX, which has an efficiency of 8.4 miles per kWh.
