l of CapCut, Edit's Instagram editing tool is available to be downloaded and tested directly from the Android and Apple app stores.
Instagram first announced this new Instagram tool back in January, which was promised back then to be the perfect alternative to CapCut which is extremely popular among Tiktok users. Created especially for content creators, this new Instagram Edits has various tools that streamline the entire editing process. Users will find tools for tracking data on video performance or for improved project management.
Compared with the Instagram social media platform, which offers some editing tools for reels, Edits provides its users with advanced editing features, including artificial intelligence tools that are capable of creating animations from images. With a user-friendly interface, Instagram’s new Edits tools let you animate clips with keyframes, share drafts for feedback, and get creative with more effects, fonts, transitions, and even free music sounds.
“A lot is going on in the world right now and no matter what happens, we think it’s our job to create the most compelling creative tools for those of you who make videos for not just Instagram but for platforms out there,”, the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri stated back in January.
It seems that the Edits video editing tool represents Meta’s answer to the CapCut video editor, which is owned by ByteDance, the Chinese parent company that also owns TikTok. CapCut now is globally used by various content creators and attracts more and more users thanks to its flexibility of editing on both mobile and desktop.
It should be mentioned that all the Edits features all quite similar to the features available in TikTok’s CapCut. But, we must wonder if Edits was created to be the substitute editing video tool in the U.S. because this tool was first announced in January when both TikTok and CapCut were banned for a couple of hours in the U.S. territory.
The next deadline for the TikTok ban is due in mid-June, but the situation between the U.S. and China is indeed unpredictable.
Stay tuned to see if Edits will replace CapCut in the U.S.!
