ccording to a person familiar with the matter, Meta company reportedly has fired about 20 employees who leaked different confidential information.
“We tell employees when they join the company, and we offer periodic reminders, that it is against our policies to leak internal information, no matter the intent,”, Dave Arnold, the Meta spokesperson stated for The Verge.
The Meta company has put a lot of effort into finding the leakers due to the fact that in recent periods, various rumors and leaks about the unannounced plans have been made public. In a recent company-wide meeting, the CEO, Mark Zuckerberg advised all its employees to keep things private about the next product launches and important industry plans.
“We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect there will be more. We take this seriously, and will continue to take action when we identify leaks.”, Dave Arnold also stated.
After the various recent leaks, the company cautioned all employees that will have a round of Meta layoffs, if those responsible will be spotted.
It’s important to mention that the Meta company has experienced some issues within the company after the CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced different changes in the content moderation policies. Also, the Meta company has ended the DEI programs while Zuckerberg stated that the previous Meta layoffs targeted especially low-performing employees.
“We try to be really open and then everything I say leaks,” Mark Zuckerberg stated.
In the Thursday Meta news about Meta's layoff, the company chose not to disclose more details about the layoff process such as who are the employees, the details that they leaked, and more importantly who they leaked to.

“There’s a funny thing that’s happening with these leaks. When things leak, I think a lot of times people think, ‘Ah, okay, this is leaked, therefore it’ll put pressure on us to change things.’ The opposite is more likely.”, the CTO, Andrew Bosworth, stated in a recent internal meeting that happened in early February.
Even more, so in leaked remarks about these warnings, the Meta CTO informed the employees that the company was close to identifying those employees.
Stay tuned for more updates!
