It should be mentioned that the employees based in Germany, France, Italy, and also in the Netherlands are not included in the Meta layoffs plan, due to the fact that these countries have different local regulations.
The Layoffs Meta plan is part of a bigger plan that various tech companies are considering, mostly after the hiring spree that happened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, multiple big technology companies such as Amazon, Salesforce, and Microsoft are expected to have layoffs in the worldwide workforce, eliminating thousands of employees.
When the layoffs of Meta were initially announced by Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta company, he stated in a note for all the workers that the company was planning to start a Meta layoffs plan based on the employee's performance.
"I’ve decided to raise the bar on performance management and move out low-performers faster. We typically manage out people who aren’t meeting expectations over the course of a year. But now we’re going to do more extensive performance-based cuts during this cycle.”, Mark stated in the note.
Even more so, in a separate internal memo, Peng Fan, the company’s VP of Engineering for Monetization, stated in an internal report that Meta is starting the hiring process for machine learning engineers which is considered to improve the Meta company’s efforts in the AI development industry. This Meta hiring process is expected to begin this Monday, February 11 to last a month until March 13.
"Thank you for your continued support in helping us achieve our accelerated hiring goals, and better align with our company's priorities for 2025,", Peng Fan stated.
Stay tuned for more updates!
