Noplace has rapidly become the No. 1 in the App Store and functions out of invite-only for its users. The app has a colorful design and is destined for the young audience, and not only. The purpose of the app is to create a space where everyone can interact and find common interests on different topics.
You can call it a modern Myspace version, as it has more color. The social media app also lets you customize profiles and allows its users to make their relationship status, what they are listening to or watching, and even what they are reading or doing. “customize your profile: change your background colors, show off your best friends, share your relationship status, and more. express yourself however you want, we won’t judge” is just one of the features that the app comes with.
The app introduced itself as bringing back the good old days when “calling all NPCs, main characters, swifties, barbs, nerds, and stans remember how fun the internet was before all the algos and ads? we do too… so we’re bringing it back welcome to noplace”.
Another cool feature that comes with the new social media app is that you can “add your faves: see what your bffs are up to, who’s their current top 8, which shows they’re binging, or whatever else they wanna share”. And who remembers old social media platforms already knows that this is how they used to be.
The app creates a nostalgic atmosphere for millennials as it gives you the ability to “update your current vibe: share your mood, what you’re eating, gaming, streaming, reading, or that weird TikTok rabbit hole you've just crawled out of.”. It gives a fresh perspective in the era of everything we do ends up on social media, coming as a reality check for everyone.
The founder and CEO of the noplace, Tiffany Zhong comments about the app “I think that part of the magical, fun part of the internet is gone now. Everything is very uniform,” (...) “Facebook 10 years ago — or Facebook when I was using it in middle school — was all around cool, life updates,” Zhong states “We don’t get that anymore, right? You can follow [friends] on Instagram, but it’s still highlights, less updates.”.
The app is now free of download on iOS, however, it is only available in read-only mode on its web version. For the foundation of the start-up, raising $15 million in the first series, at the first pre-money valuation of $75 million.
