he AI startup, Perplexity AI launched Monday a new feature for Pro subscribers, a shopping hub, which allows users to purchase a product without the need
to leave the AI search engine interface.
Perplexity AI is backed by Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder, and is also supported by the leader in the AI chip market Nvidia. With these investors, Perplexity introduces a new impressive feature that will give users the option to see product cards with relevant items related to their queries.
To search for a certain product, Perplexity Pro subscribers who are based in the U.S. will see the option to “Buy with Pro” which will be able to order automatically the searched product if users already have saved the shipping and billing data and information.
So, according to the company, all the products that are purchased using the AI search engine will benefit from free shipping, and for those products that don’t support yet the Perplexity option, the search engine will redirect the subscribers directly to the seller's website.
Also, this new shopping hub features include an impressive option “Snap to Shop” which represents a visual search tool that will show various products based on a photo of an item uploaded by subscribers. This feature seems to be similar to the Google Lens. But, the Perplexity AI search engine will also allow users to make visual searches that don’t include the shopping intent.

It’s important to mention that users who don’t have a Perplexity Pro subscription will observe other updates for the search engine AI such as artificial intelligence shopping features with our product card for product-related queries. So, for U.S. users, these product cards will be able to show the product’s image along with its price and an AI summary of its key features.
Also, Perplexity AI chat seems to have an increased focus to include shopping tools for merchants. So, the company is looking to launch a merchant program to offer the sellers insights and also shopping trends that might emphasize their products. This shopping initiative can also boost the chance of Perplexity recommending their products.
Recently, Perplexity has secured a new funding round, which would value the AI search engine at $9 billion. With the giant ChatGPT as its direct competitor, the company has been looking to expand its functionalities to keep up with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology.
