a PlayStation network outage that latest about 18 hours from Friday to Saturday.
"Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience,", Sony, the Japanese electronics giant stated Sunday in an X post.
The Playstation outage has lasted through the weekend, starting on Friday evening until Saturday evening in the U.S. territory. Many PS users have reported issues with all digital games and trouble connecting with their PS friends online. The Japanese giant did not reveal the cause of the PlayStation network outage in their post, but various sources are trying to find the cause of this recent issue.
After 18 hours of not playing their favorite games, the Playstation Plus subscribers have announced that all the operations on the PlayStation have been successfully restored.
The PlayStation Network represents an important Sony service for its gaming division, due to the fact that has millions of users that play across the globe. So, it’s worth mentioning that at the high point of the PlayStation outage, the issue had affected in the U.S. about 7,939 users and about 7,336 UK users, as stated by Downdetector.com. This is not the first PlayStation outage that Sony experienced since the company had a cyberattack in 2014 that affected the PlayStation Network during the holiday season. Also more than 10 years ago, about 77 million users' personal data was exposed and the Sony company faced a regulatory investigation.
In order to keep their PlayStation Plus subscribers, the Japanese electronica company promised all users that their subscription plans would be extended with an extra 5 days to play all their favorite games with PS friends.
“All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service.”, as stated in the company’s X account.
All the PlayStation Network operations are now fully functional, even though the source of all these issues remains unknown.
