ven if you can’t download more RAM for your laptop, you will be able to download a better gaming performance if you are using a modern Ryzen desktop CPU.
Last week, AMD announced that they are working with Microsoft on an optimization patch designed for Ryzen CPUs and was due for the next Windows 11 version 24H2 update. Still, Microsoft has implemented it in the existing 23H2 version of Microsoft 11.
With this optimization, various Zen 4 and Zen 5 desktop Ryzen CPUs will record a significant performance improvement in gaming.
If a user wants to get this new Windows update, it is necessary to search for it manually to be able to install it. “Users will need to look for KB5041587 under Windows update > Advanced options > Optional updates,”, AMD said in a statement for Wccfrech.
They also stated that the performances of both versions are expected to have almost the same results due to the KB5041587 optimization installed.
“We expect the performance uplift to be very similar between 24H2 and 23H2 with KB5041587 installed.”
The 24H2 Microsoft update for Windows 11 is expected to be available starting in late September and has already been tested by reviewers. Until now, they discovered that there is almost a 10% performance improvement in multiple games that are running at 1080p on an older processor such as the Ryzen 7700X chip.
Hardware Unboxed stated on their YouTube channel that, Windows 11 24H2 tested on the latest Ryzen 9700X chip is providing about 11% more performance improvement in the same game tests.
The latest desktop from AMD, the Zen 5 desktop CPUs has failed to impress the reviewers in the initial benchmark results. This has led to the idea that maybe AMD and Microsoft are working to make an optimization for the AMD-specific branch prediction code in Windows 11.

Now that this optimization has been backported by Microsoft in the existing version 23H2 of Windows 11, users will no longer need to pick the Release Preview testing to try 24H2 and the performance improvements from the Ryzen CPU.
But, if you want to test this new version earlier, which will be available starting in late September, you can check out the Windows Insider program and download the Release Preview builds on your PC. All of the files that are necessary for these downloads are available on their website.
