In the following weeks, the two giants will be releasing their collaboration where Apple TV+ will be available via Prime Video in the US as an add-on subscription for $9.99 per month. The news was announced by Amazon this Wednesday.
Apple TV+ joins Prime Video’s collection of more than 100 add-on subscription possibilities available in the US. Among the add-ons, you can find Paramount+, Max, Sony’s Crunchyroll, and let’s not forget about Amazon’s MGM+.
The deal comes as Amazon’s strategy to integrate as many streaming and entertainment services on one platform and one bill, in order to create the best experience for the customers. Mike Hopkins, Head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios said “Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering a wide selection of premium programming,” and “As we continue to expand our offering and make it easy for customers to personalize their streaming experience directly in one app, we are proud to welcome Apple TV+ and its popular and critically acclaimed shows, films and events to Prime Video.”.
It is also worth noting that the two companies already work together on Amazon’s Fire TV family providers which is a native Apple TV+ app, and Apple TV 4K boxes stream Prime Video. Yet, this new deal develops their business partnership to the next level. For this deal, amazon takes an already discussed percentage cut from the subscription revenue when the services are streamed via the Prime Video streaming service.
At the Bloomberg Screentime conference in LA on Thursday evening, when asked how the Prime Video Distribution deal benefits Apple, Hopkins said that Amazon can bring Apple TV+ to “hundreds of millions of subscribers around the world.”.
Even more so, this past April, Andy Jassy, CEO of Prime Video they have surpassed 200 million monthly viewers. You also need to know that Apple TV+ has to offer a lineup of original shows which includes “Ted Lasso”, “Severance”, “Slow Horses”, “The Morning Show”, “Presumed Innocent”, “Wolfs”, “The Instigators” and many other exclusive TV shows starring actors such as Brad Pitt or George Clooney.
Apple’s SVP, Eddy Cue said in a statement “We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to as many viewers as possible. We’re thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+, giving viewers an incredible breadth of viewing options.”.
Prime Video is one of the reasons why users opt for the Prime membership program which in the US costs $139 per year. Whereas the Prime Video membership alone costs $8.99 monthly.
