After a recent interview, Canada’s Secret Intelligence Services recommended that Canadians no longer use TikTok, letting users know that their information and private data are “available to the government of China.”
In an interview with CBC News this Saturday, David Vigneault, the Canadian Security Intelligence director, stated that “there is a very clear strategy on the part of the government of China … to be able to acquire … personal information from around the world,” CBC says.
The Chinese government is using the data and information that TikTok requires users to enter, having the ability to enter and use the data despite the US’s efforts to stop them. David Vigneault also stated, “They’re using big data analytics, they have amazing computer farms crunching the data, they are developing artificial intelligence ... based on using this data,”.
However, TikTok has repeatedly stated that they cannot access data from European and US users. Yet, TikTok is still faced with two corporate restructuring projects, Project Texas and Project Clover. The Secret Intelligence Director also stated
“My answer as director of [the Canadian Security Intelligence Service] is that there is a very clear strategy on the part of the government of China … to be able to acquire … personal information from anyone around the world,”.
The Chinese company and government denied all the accusations of concerns about the use and misinformation of personal information and personal data of the users.
