Yesterday, in the OpenAI Livestream, the company announced the new version of the video generator, OpenAI Sora Turbo, which is able to generate clips of a maximum of 20 seconds in length in different formats and resolutions.
As Will Peebles, the research lead of Sora AI Video Generator, states “This early version of Sora will make mistakes — it’s not perfect, but it’s already at the point where we think it’s going to be really useful for augmenting human creativity. We can’t wait to see what the world is going to make with Sora.”
According to OpenAI, the ChatGPT Plus subscribers which are located in the U.S. and some other countries, are able to generate about 50 priority 5-second long videos at a resolution of up to 720p. For the recently launched ChatGPT Pro subscribers, its users will pay about $200 per month to have unlimited video generations and about 500 priority videos with a 1080p resolution and a length of 20 seconds. It’s important to mention that those users who are willing to pay for the more expensive ChatGPT subscription plan, will have the option to download their videos without a watermark while operating up to five video generations at the same time.
So, during the Yesterday OpenAI Livestream, the company revealed the new explore page from the OpenAI Sora video generator, filled with various generated videos powered by artificial intelligence which the community members created. More importantly, OpenAI accentuated a new feature called “storyboards”. This new Sora Video feature allows its users to generate videos from a series of prompts, and also to transform photos into videos. Besides this, the company also revealed a tool called “Remix” which lets subscribers adjust the Sora AI video output with just a text prompt, along with a “blend” tool that allows users to combine two scenes with artificial intelligence technology.

It should be mentioned that in order to generate videos, the company requires each user to have credits, which can vary according to the resolution and the duration of the generated video. The ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscription plans will provide users between 1,000 and 10,000 credits, an amount which will reset monthly.
For example, a Sora AI-generated video with 480p resolution will cost between 20 and 150 credits, while one with 720p resolution will cost between 30 and 540 credits. And for the generated videos with 1080p resolution subscribers will have to pay between 100 and 2,000 credits.
All subscribers must know that the Sora AI video generator is not yet available for EU and UK residents, but the company has published a help page especially to show the list of territories where the Sora Video generator is now available.
“We’re going to try our hardest to be able to launch [in Europe], but we don’t have any timing to share yet. And there are some other countries that we’re not able to operate in.”, Sam Altman, the OpenAI CEO stated.
