internet and to give prompt answers to every question from web sources.
Powered by GPT-4 models, SearchGPT is currently just a prototype and since Thursday is available only for a small group of 10,000 users. According to the spokesperson of OpenAi, the search engine is collaborating with third-party partners to offer direct content in the search results. Their goal for the near future is to combine SearchGPT and OpenAI features in a single powerful product.
SearchGPT, “collects and shares” the precise location of users to give the most accurate answers and correct information depending on the searches. To search for information, you must type in a large text box that asks “ What are you looking for?”. After you type in your question, SearchGPT not only shows you some links but also tries to organize the answers in a logical list with short descriptions for every link shown.
You can ask follow-up questions if you need more information, and in some cases, SearchGPT gives you a visual representation of the answers, but this feature and functionality remain unknown for now.
Considering the UI design of the SearchGPT is similar to ChatGPT. You only need to type in a question and the platform will give you the photos and answers from the web along with links and relevant sources.
It’s not a good time for this feature to launch because until now Artificial intelligence-powered tools were accused of plagiarism and inaccuracies. If this is the future, with just powered AI search engines, it threatens publisher traffic. One study about Artificial Intelligence shows that it could affect about 25% of traffic due to minimizing article links.
For this, Open and SearchGPT stated that they cite the publisher links clearly and they are currently working on a method for publishers to manage how their information and content could appear in search results.
OpenAI stated in a blog post that they support publishers and creators and offer them the opportunity to list on search results without the generative AI training. “Importantly, SearchGPT is about search and is separate from training OpenAI’s generative AI foundation models. Sites can be surfaced in search results even if they opt out of generative AI training,”
During the initial launch, the SearchGPT can be used free due to the lack of ads but soon, the Artificial Intelligence company will have to figure out a way to monetize this incredible search engine.
