based on its software. The generative AI engine can send answers in real time and provide helpful and prompt responses to inquiries.
The deal that has been made between SoftBank and Perplexity wants to lead to a bigger user base poll and data touchpoints for SofBank’s home market of Japan. Even more so, SoftBank and two of its main mobile operators are looking forward to offering a free one-year subscription for Perplexity’s Premium and Perplexity Pro versions starting on June 19th.
This comes as a growth strategy for Perplexity’s paid versions, trying to motivate users to try them and really see the advantages that come with the use of the software. The integration comes as a response to companies that do not have the necessary means and funds to create their own solutions. Instead, integrations with perplexity can get them where they need to and, at the same time, be an opportunity for SoftBank to deliver solutions integrating AI into them.
It is also worth mentioning that SoftBank is not the first company the AI software has been working with. Perplexity has worked in the past with other companies, such as Germany’s Deutsche Telekom.
Softbank is also looking into a $100 billion AI Chip venture, the company being linked to a potential buyer for Graphcore in the UK. This April, Perplexity stated that they closed $62.7 million in funding, getting their valuation at $1 billion. However, SoftBank confirmed for TechCrunch that they have not been investing in the AI company.
