erplexity AI, which reported earlier this month that is expecting a $500 million funding round, announced that successfully closed the Perplexity funding round.
So, in its fourth funding round, Perplexity AI managed to reach a company valuation of $9 billion.
According to some information, Perplexity AI company had a funding round led by the Silicon Valley venture capital firm IVP.
At the beginning of the year, the Perplexity valuation was around $520 million. After that, the AI Perplexity company was valued in April at just $1 billion followed by a $3 billion valuation after receiving an investment from SoftBank Group Vision Fund 2. Now, after just a few months and a few funding rounds, Perplexity AI has reached a valuation of $9 billion.

Based in San Francisco California, Perplexity was founded in 2022 by four co-founders, Aravind Srinivas, Andy Konwinski, Denis Yarats, and Johnny Ho. All of them have an engineering background focused more on artificial intelligence technology and models along with machine learning.
Currently, this large language model offers two plans for users, a free version along Perplexity Pro. The free plan is based only on the company’s LLM and uses GPT-3.5 to browse online data and information and provide personalized answers. Compared with the free version, the AI Perplexity Pro plan allows users to have access to an API, and it searches web content and internal files to offer the most accurate responses. It also has access to GPT-4, Claude 3.5, Grok-2, and Llama 3. Currently, Perplexity Pro costs $20 per month and for enterprises, the company offers a version priced at $40 per month.
Stay tuned to find out more about the next Perplexity funding round and to see if the company will be able to reach a higher valuation soon!
