he PlayStation State of Play 2024 is here!
Just days before the PlayStation 5 Pro release date, Sony suddenly dropped the State of Play PlayStation in September 2024, with even more exciting news and games.
The State of Play presentation started at 10 PM UTC and went on for approximately 30 minutes, where they released some amazing PlayStation news, updates about PS VR2 and PS 5 games, and even one PS5 Pro exclusive. From multiple remasters to DLC announcements and so many other trailers, PlayStation Showcase 2024 gave us a pretty good look at what we should expect in the upcoming months.

Sony is Launching New “Chroma” Console Covers
Good news! Sony announced at the PlayStation Showcase 2024 that they are releasing new “Chroma” console covers for the PS 5 Slim. These new pearlescent colors come in striking shades of indigo, teal, and pearl, adding a vibrant touch to your gaming setup. But it doesn’t stop here! If an iridescent console cover isn’t eye-catching enough, the matching DualSense controllers will surely steal the show!
The Chroma console covers in Pearl and Indigo will be available starting November 7th, while the Teal edition will debut on January 23, 2025. The Chroma covers are priced at $64.99, while the DualSense controllers will be available for $79.99.

Ghost of Tsushima Sequel Announced as Ghost of Yotei
One of the biggest announcements from the PlayStation State of Play was the update on the sequel of Ghost of Tsushima. The new game will be released in 2025 and titled Ghost of Yotei, focusing on a new female protagonist, Atsu.
Sucker Punch closed the Sony State of Play event with a first look at Atsu, joined by a mysterious wolf companion, traveling the wilderness surrounding Mount Yotei. The new Ghost series game is one of the most anticipated PlayStation news and games.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Another exciting piece of news regarding PS5 games is the official confirmation of the remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn. Rumors about a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn first appeared in 2022. Anyone owning the Horizon Zero Dawn PS4 version will be able to upgrade it to the PS5 games version for $9.99.
Sony revealed at the PlayStation State of Play event that the game would be available starting October 31 on both PlayStation 5 and PC with “stunning new visuals and enhanced features”. Plus, the game will also include around 10 hours of re-recorded dialogue.
PS VR 2: Hitman 3 VR
Good news for PS VR 2 fans! Another game is being released. In today’s PlayStation State of Play, Sony presented the new Hitman World of Assassination, which will be available sooner than you might’ve expected – in December 2024.
It should come with a trigger warning as it is pretty bloody, but the visuals look absolutely fantastic. If you have already purchased the previous version of Hitman VR, it comes with a $10 upgrade for the flatscreen game.
PlayStation 5 Pro Release Date and Games
While the official PlayStation 5 Release Date has already been announced – November 7th, Sony has revealed at the PlayStation State of Play 2024 that seven more games will be enhanced. The list of new titles is F1 24, Stellar Blade, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil 4.
With the new PS 5 Pro games revealed, the confirmed game lineup consists of 20 enhanced titles that will soon be available to the general public.
More PS 5 Games Announced:
- LEGO Horizon Aventures: The Horizon’s LEGO spinoff version finally arrives on November 14th and will be available on PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
- Monster Hunter Wilds: Sony revealed that Monster Hunter Wilds is officially set to launch on February 28, 2025, and will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and even PC.
- Fantasian Neo Dimension: The father of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, is finally bringing his masterpiece to the PS5. During today’s PlayStation State of Play, it was announced that Fantasian will arrive on the PS5 game on December 5th.
- Hell is Us: The horror game Hell is Us is getting new gameplay! While it does not have an official release date yet, PlayStation News showed a new trailer, which gives us a pretty good look at what we should expect.
- Astro Bot DLC: Although the game arrived on PS 5 games earlier this month, we should expect a free DLC in Fall 2024, with new speedrun levels and new bots to rescue.
- The Midnight Walk: A new game from the creators of the famous Lost in Random game has been announced at the PlayStation State of Play – The Midnight Walk. While we don’t have an official release date yet, we will be able to play it on both PS5 and PS VR 2.
