hatGPT has become recently a web search engine powered by artificial intelligence. OpenAI has released a feature that can provide real-time information and data
for users with paid a subscription and also for the SearchGPT waitlist users. There’s also good news for all users along with enterprise and education users because they will have free access to these features in the coming weeks. OpenAI has decided to launch the web search engine integrated into the ChatGPT interface. So, it’s very easy to interact with, because this AI search engine determines when users should tap for web results based on their requests. However, users are free to use the generative AI search engine manually whenever they feel the need to.

OpenAI generative search engine will be available in all ChatGPT platforms, on Android and iOS as well as for desktop for macOS and Windows. The new search feature is based on a mix of different search technologies including one from Microsoft Bing. SearchGPT or ChatGPT search was first released in July to be tested by 10,000 users as a prototype. Also, the company confirmed in its official announcement that the AI search engine represents an improved version of its well-known GPT-4o model . We think that the artificial intelligence-powered ChatGPT search engine comes at a time when the generative AI search engine is becoming popular among different tech giants. Meta plans to develop their own artificial intelligence search version, while the giant Google is continuously developing and launching different AI-powered features to keep up with the rapid evolution of technology.
Now, users might choose the improved ChatGPT over Google Search because they will not see different types of ads or promoted requests pinned to the top of the interface. According to OpenAI’s ChatGPT search lead, Adam Fry , the company is not planning to include advertising results in ChatGPT. It should be mentioned that the AI search engine is more expensive to maintain and update compared with the traditional search, and for now, it remains unknown why OpenAI is choosing to make the search engine free for some users. But, maybe the free version for users will have some limitations on how often they can use this improved ChatGPT search engine.
