home screen. Starting this Wednesday, the new design will allow users to swipe easily between feeds.
Adam Mosseri stated that currently, the Swipe feature will only be available for Android users, but declares that it will be launched soon also for the iOS version of the social media platform Threads.
“Following is now just a swipe away, and you can easily swipe between any of your custom feeds. This may look like a small change, but it should make navigating the app much simpler.”, he stated in the Threads announcement.
This new Threads feature is structured based on the recent updates from Threads from the past two weeks. Just a few days ago, the social media app started to test the ability for users to choose their default feed into For You, Following, or just another custom option. This feature was long awaited for Threads users because they requested the option to set their favorite feed as default since the initial Threads social media platform launch last year.
Even more so, the Threads social media app released the custom feeds feature last week which allows users to create their own feeds about certain topics and user profiles. Additionally, the app’s For You feed will be able now to prioritize to show more content from followed accounts, in order to address the Threads social media app users companies about seeing content from people that they don’t follow.
It’s important to mention that besides all of Thread's new features, the social media app is currently working on an element that is planned to be similar to the “Starter Packs” from Bluesky. This unreleased Threads feature will be focused on providing a list of recommended users in order to be followed by the people who are first joining the platform.
All of the social media changes may be due to the fact that the Meta Group is considering the new Bluesky platform as a potential competitor in the industry. Meta decided very quickly to make various changes to Threads at the same time when hundreds of X users were switching to Bluesky.
Stay tuned for more updates!
