ClickUp vs Monday Compared – Which Is Better?

1. Ease of Use

Both ClickUp and monday.com software are known to be titans in the business world. And it makes sense! They both include some complex and sophisticated features that may initially seem complicated – especially ClickUp.

In fact, a friend of mine told me that the first time he used ClickUp, he felt like his dad was trying to understand what Google was. Just kidding! But yes, ClickUp is more suitable for tech-savvy people and tech-based companies due to its complex hierarchy that may seem cluttered. But once you get the hang of it, this can be a fantastic productivity tool as it is – the app that replaces them all.

On the other hand, monday.com is more beginner-friendly and has a better user experience overall. The clean and minimalist user interface gives an intuitive and visually pleasing look, eliminating unnecessary elements. For this reason, monday.com is much more suitable for personal productivity tools and large teams.

But don’t worry! Both tools provide in-app guidance through tooltips, onboarding videos, and an extensive knowledge database.

2. Workflow and Task Management

Depending on your team and needs, one productivity tool might suit you better.

ClickUp is full of features – especially project views, including Gantt charts, lists, calendars, boards, timelines, teams, tables, workload tables, mind maps, and an actual map. Even more so, you also have access to Whiteboards and Docs. At the same time, monday.com focuses mainly on data visualization with multiple views, including – Kanban boards, tables, maps, Gantt charts, and various chart views.

For this reason, if you or your team plan to use a productivity tool for visual brainstorming and task planning, ClickUp might be more beneficial. But if you focus on data and analysis, you might want to consider monday.com instead.

3. Automations

What makes monday.com and ClickUp top-notch productivity tools is that they both excel at automations due to their no-code workflow creation and pre-made templates.

With ClickUp, we can access automations even if we have a free plan. However, as you might’ve assumed, we are limited by the number of automations we can access. For this reason, it offers 100 monthly automations for free plans and unlimited automations for paid ones. At the same time, monday.com offers up to 250 automations per month for the Standard paid plan.

Despite this limitation, monday.com’s automations are incredibly user-friendly, adopting a text-based approach. And yes, although it might be pretty tricky at first if you have never used automation, putting your processes on autopilot will be like a breeze. On the other hand, ClickUp’s automations can be even more complicated than monday.com’s – even for those who previously worked with setting them up.

4. Integrations

The best thing about both work apps is that they are loaded with automations and integrations – including Zapier.

The backbone of any good project and productivity tool is having everything in one place. No need for multiple platforms. While Click has 1,000+ integrations, monday.com unfortunately loses this battle with only 200+ integrations. However, both platforms can use Zapier to expand their possibilities. Plus, if you’re techy, both solutions have open APIs so that you can create and build your integrations.

5. Desktop & Mobile Applications

As someone who is on the phone 99% of the time, having a mobile phone available is a must. Thankfully, both ClickUp and monday.com have that, in addition to their native desktop apps. This way, we can access these apps everywhere we go as long as we have an internet connection. While their desktop apps are identical to the web-based ones, their mobile apps still need improvements. But don’t worry! You can still access basic task management actions on your phone, so you don’t lose track.

ClickUp vs Monday – Which Productivity Tool Should I Choose?

Both work apps – ClickUp and monday.com – are complex project management software tools – there’s no denying that. But depending on your objectives and your team’s preferences, the best productivity tool is yours. Both productivity tools offer free trials, so you might want to try them and see which one you like more.

And remember! Choosing the right project management software tool is like selecting what ice cream you want to eat – it’s all about what you like. There’s no wrong answer, and it’s more about finding the one you enjoy all the time.
